I watch rugby every other Saturday and that means two hours on a terrace in January with nothing between me and the weather. This has been the difference between enjoying it and enduring it. Warm standing still, which is the only test that matters for that, and the collar up handles the wind. I've had it rained on twice and it dried out overnight both times. Four months on and it's exactly as it was.

The body holds heat properly and the collar up makes a real difference. The sleeves are lined differently and are noticeably cooler, which is worth knowing, but a decent jumper handles that. Five months on and it's been the best thing I've bought in years.

I photograph trains and that means standing on cold platforms and embankments for hours at a time waiting for something specific to come past. Warmth was the only criterion. This has been better than the technical thing I used before and looks a great deal less silly. The pockets take a lens cloth and a flask lid without bulging. Six months of that and nothing has flattened or worn thin anywhere.

It's warm to the point of being too warm indoors and I end up taking it off within about ten minutes of getting anywhere. That's a compliment and a complaint at the same time. Outside it's excellent. Just don't expect to keep it on in a pub. Fit is correct and it's well made.

I work in a garden centre and I'm outside from seven in the morning through the winter. This has replaced a heavy coat I'd worn for six years and its lighter while being warmer, which I didn't think was possible. Fits my normal size with a fleece under and its been comfortable throughout.

Bought this for my husband who complains about the cold from October onwards and has now stopped, which is worth the money on its own. He wears it every day. Fit him on his usual size with a jumper under, no exchange needed. Arrived a day ahead of the estimate.

I do security work on a gate and that means eight hours mostly stationary in whatever the weather is doing. Cold is the whole job as far as I'm concerned between November and February.
