Womens 3/4 Length Navy Blue Double Breasted Wool Coat

A colleague had one and I spent about a month working up to asking her where it came from, which is ridiculous. She sent me the link the same afternoon. There are now three of us in the same coat on the same floor and none of us seem to mind, which I think says somthing.

Four coats on the rail and this is the one that comes off it, most mornings, without me thinking about it. It is not the warmest one I own and it is not the smartest one I own. It is the one that is right for the largest number of days, which turns out to be what actually matters. The other three have barely moved since September and I am starting to wonder why I keep them.

Needed something dark and appropriate at short notice and this arrived in time. Did the job quietly, which is all you want from a coat on a day like that. Have worn it a lot since for ordinary things.

The outside pockets are set a fraction higher than I would put them, so you end up with your elbows slightly bent rather than hands dropping straight in. Perfectly usable and deep enough that nothing falls out when you lean forward. It is the sort of thing you notice in the first week and then never think about again, and I only mention it because nobody else has.

Wore it over jeans and trainers to the shops and it did not look like I had come from the office, which surprised me given how smart it is with everything else. The straight cut helps. It is doing about four different jobs now.

Second autumn in it now. No bobbling under the arms where the bag sits, no thining at the cuffs, the buttons are all original and the lining is intact at the armholes, which is where they usually go first. The colour has not gone patchy at the shoulders either, which was my worry with something this dark. It looks like it did in October last year.

The lining is polyester rather than anything nicer, and you can tell when you put it on over bare arms because it is a bit slippery and cool. It does not cling or crackle which is the main thing. Just do not expect the feel of a coat at three times the money.

My husband ordered it after I had spent about three weeks sending him links and then not buying any of them, which is very me. He picked this one and got the size right off the label of something in the wardrobe. It arrived two days before my birthday and he could not keep it to himself so I openend it early. I have worn it every day since and he brings it up regularly.
