Barbara Women’s Mid Length Black Wool Coat

Wanted something smarter than my puffer for weekend brunches and errands. This looks so much more grown up and still keeps me warm enough. I wear it open with jeans and a knit. Exactly what I was after.

This is my second order from the store and easily the best thing I've bought from them. The cut is properly tailored, fitted through the waist so it never looks shapeless. I wore it to a funeral in December and then to a holiday dinner the week after, and it suited both. Warm, smart, and the buttons have stayed tight after weeks of daily wear. Sizing was exactly as the chart said, which made ordering easy.

Every year I leave my wife's present to the last minute. This year I got ahead of it. The coat came well packaged and looked even better than the photos. She opened it Christmas morning and wore it out for a walk that afternoon. Fit was right on, which never happens when I'm guessing.

It's a really nice coat and the fit is great on my petite frame. It feels a little heavy on the shoulders by the end of a long day, but that probably comes with it being proper wool. Would still buy it again. Looks very classy at work.

My biggest issue with fitted coats is they never leave room for a sweater. This one does. I can wear a thick cable knit underneath and still button it up comfortably. The shape stays neat and doesn't puff out. Perfect for those chilly fall mornings that turn into mild afternoons.

The first size I ordered was a bit big in the shoulders. Customer service sorted an exchange quickly and the smaller size fits beautifully. Nipped at the waist, neat across the back, and warm enough for the school run on frosty mornings. Glad I didn't give up on it.

On the whole, a really well made coat. The body fit is excellent and the three buttons close neatly without gaping. I'm on the shorter side of petite, so the length came down a bit lower on my leg than the photos suggested, and I had a tailor take a little off the hem. Not a huge deal. After that it's perfect, and the soft collar and smooth lining make it really comfortable to wear for hours.

I have hips and a bust and usually have to size up, and then everything hangs off my shoulders. Took my normal size here and the seams actually follow my shape. Buttoned up it still closes without pulling across the chest. I feel polished in it for the first time in years.
