Women's Cognac Waxed Harrington Leather Jacket

I was between this and a plain smooth leather one and went with the waxed version because a friend said hers had aged better than anything else in her wardrobe. Four months in I understand what she meant. The high points have started to lift in colour and the seams have gone darker, so it already has some character. Fit is close through the body with room at the shoulder.

I keep it on a broad hanger rather than folded and after four months there are no odd creases anywhere except the elbows, which are meant to be there. Worth mentioning because my last one got a permanent fold right across the back.

Second jacket from here and I went for a different colour this time on purpose. The fit across both is identical, which is the whole reason I came back rather than gambling somewhere new. It arrived in four working days again.

Bought this in the middle of a heatwave, which was optimistic, and it has been perfect since the weather turned. Not heavy, not warm on its own, but it cuts the wind and looks a good deal better than a coat for anything in the evening.

Compared this against two high street options that cost nearly double and turned out to be bonded leather. Easy decision in the end. This one has a proper hide feel to it, a bit of grain, and the seams do not look glued anywhere.

I am 5 foot 8 with long arms and the medium sleeves reached properly, which almost never happens for me. The body sits just below the waistband. The leather had a slight firmness for about a week and then relaxed. No smell, no marks, no faults.

Wore it over a dress to an early autumn wedding and it was right for both the ceremony and the pub afterwards. Warm enough at that hour. Nobody thought it odd with heels.

The thing that sold me was reading that the colour varies slightly between pieces because of the wax, and that turned out to be true. Mine has a lighter panel on one sleeve that I would not change for anything. Fit was accurate to the chart, it arrived earlier than the estimate, and the only care it has needed in five months is a wipe with a cloth.
