Mens Wool Blend Grey Herringbone Blazer

Bought it for my father for his seventieth because he has worn the same jacket to every family occasion since about nineteen ninety and it had given up at the elbows. He was suspicious of it for about a day and then wore it to the party, to church the following Sunday and to my aunts for lunch. The weave is close enough to the old one that he did not feel like he was in something unfamiliar.

Said it would be here Wednesday and it was here Wednesday, which after some of the deliveries we have had this year felt like an event. Ordered it for my husband and he had it on before the box was off the floor. No damage, no creasing, nothing to sort out. Very straightfoward.

Had a tweed jacket for about fifteen years that I was fond of and had stopped being able to defend. The elbows had gone thin, the lining had split and it smelled faintly of a loft. This replaced it and I have not missed it once, which surprised me because I expected to. The weave gives you the same thing without the weight, and it does not itch, which the old one did more than I admitted.

My wife has said twice now that this is better on me than the navy one I have worn for years, and she does not comment on clothes as a rule. I cannot see it myself but I am not going to argue with the only independant opinion I have got. Wearing it more than the navy one.

Good everywhere except across the upper back, where it is a little tight when I reach forward. I row twice a week so I am broader there than the pattern expects and this happens to me constantly. Sizing up would have made everything else too big so I have kept it and I work around it.

Three days a week in now after four years of not, and none of my old jackets fit or looked right any more. This was the replacement for all of them. It has been comfortable through full days at a desk, it does not crease across the back from a chair, and it goes over the arm on the train without becoming a problem. No complaints from me.

Two weeks away and the ship had a jacket rule for the dining room every evening, which I had not properly registered when we booked. Packed this and it did all fourteen nights. It came out of the case each time needing nothing, hung it in the cabin overnight and it was fine. Also warm enough for standing on deck afterwards, which the linen thing I nearly packed instead would not have been.
