Womens Black Tweed Two Button Wool Blazer Jacket

Caught it on my ring the second week and pulled a thread out about half an inch. Managed to work it back in with a needle so you cannot see it now, but a textured weave is going to do that and smoother fabric would not. Worth knowing if you wear a lot of rings.

I avoided this sort of fabric for years because of the associations, all leather buttons and country pursuits and looking like somebodys aunt. This has none of that. The weave is subtle enough that from a normal distance it just reads as a good black jacket, and the cut is modern rather than boxy. My sister asked what it was and would not believe the fabric when I told her.

Everything fitted except the sleeves, which were about an inch and a half too long on me. Twelve pounds at the tailor and a two day wait. Not really a fault of the jacket but it is the difference between wearing it that weekend and not, so factor it in if you are ordering close to something.

It is not a flat woven fabric, there is a proper weave to it that you notice up close and that catches the light differently depending on where you are standing. In a photograph it reads as plain and in person it does not, which is the opposite of most things I order. That texture is doing all the work here because the cut itself is fairly straightforward. It is the reason it looks expensive.

Heavier than a summer jacket, nothing like a coat. Sits comfortably on the shoulders for a whole day without you noticing it is there. About right for what it is.

Most textured fabrics do strange things on a webcam and go stripy or shimmer when you move. This does not. It reads as solid and dark on screen which is all you want. I keep it on the back of the office chair for anything with a camera on it.

Took ten minutes with a tape measure instead of guessing my usual and it paid off. Chest, waist and sleeve all came out where the chart said they would. I have sent back three jackets this year from other places by guessing, so I am now a convert to doing it properly.
