Men's Utility Charcoal Grey Wool Jacket

Put the collar up on a windy walk home and it stayed there rather than folding back down, which shirt collars usually do not manage. Went back down flat afterwards with no crease. Not something I do often but it is good to know it works.

Dust, lint, the dog, a coffee that mostly missed. None of it shows on this. I had a light coloured jacket before and spent half my life with a brush in my hand, and this has been the opposite experience entirely. It has been three months and I have not cleaned it once, and honestly you could not tell. If you want something you do not have to think about, a dark shade is the answer.

The listing calls it regular tailored and that turns out to be accurate. It is closer through the body than a normal work style jacket without being tight, so it reads smarter than the shape would suggest. That was a nice suprise because I had expected something boxy from the photographs.

Bought it in the spring and it has been through spring, summer evenings, autumn and now the start of winter, which is more of the year than I expected to get out of it. Nothing has gone. No thinning at the elbows, no pilling where my bag sits, all the buttons original, the lining intact at the armholes. The only change is that the cloth has softened a bit and it hangs better than it did new.

My son picked this out for his fathers birthday entirely on his own, ordered it and had it sent to the house, which is more organised than I manage. It fits, it suits him and he has worn it constantly since. I have been asked to pass on that the son would like this mentioned.

On its own it stops being enough at about six or seven degrees, which is earlier than I had hoped. It works as a middle layer under a coat and it is thin enough for that, so it does not go in the wardrobe for winter. Just do not order it expecting it to be a coat.

Ordered on a Thursday and it was here the following Wednesday, which matched what the page said. Nothing damaged and nothing missing, and no chasing anyone about where it was.

The collar is done in black against the grey body and it is the whole reason I chose this over a plain one. It is subtle enough that from across a room it just looks like a well made jacket, and then you get closer and see the two tones. It also has a practical side because the collar is where anything picks up marks first and a darker one hides that. I did not think of that.
