Men's Washed Camel Waxed Harrington Leather Jacket

Ordered it for my husband because his old tan jacket had gone almost grey at the shoulders. This one has the colour his had when it was new, which he pointed out within about ten seconds of opening the box. It came two days early.

This has become the one I reach for without thinking. Weekend mornings, driving, walking the dog, one dinner where I left it open over a shirt. It works for all of that because the colour is warm enough to soften the whole outfit. Six months of wear and the only change is that the elbows have lightened, which on a waxed finish is rather the point.

This replaced a tan jacket I had worn for about seven years until the lining went at both arms and the colour had gone patchy. The difference is the wax, because the old one faded evenly into something dull while this has darkened in the folds and lightened on the panels instead. Three months of daily wear and it already has more character than the old one ever did.

My husband and his brother now both own this in different shades after one saw the other in it at Christmas, which is faintly ridiculous but says something. They are quite different builds and it hangs the same way on both. The thing they both mention is that the collar has a darker edge, which apparently neither of them expected from the listing.

I wanted a leather jacket that buttoned rather than zipped because every zip jacket I own looks like the same thing from ten feet away. This does not. It reads more like a denim jacket in leather, which is an odd description but it is the closest I can get.

Cuffs button rather than zip, so I can leave them open and turn them back when it warms up. Small thing I use daily. No stiffness at all from the first wear.

Bought this for my father who has owned the same style of jacket for about thirty years and buys a new one roughly once a decade. He looked at the buttons, looked at the cuffs, and said it would do, which from him is close to a standing ovation. He has worn it every day since and the sizing was right first time.

Buttons take a moment longer than a zip when it is blowing a gale and you are in a hurry. That is the only downside. Everything else about it has been right.
