Men's Dark Brown Rub Off Leather Harrington Jacket

The rub off is heavier at the cuffs than in the photos, so there is more contrast than I expected. I have grown to like it but it was a surprise on day one.

One honest note. The rub off means the jacket is not a single flat colour, so if you want an even dark brown this is not the one. My husband loves the variation but it is worth knowing before you order rather than after.

I ordered a medium first because I thought the cut would run generous and it pulled across the back the moment I reached forward. Swapped for the large and it was right. The exchange took eight days including both legs of shipping and nobody made it difficult, but I would measure across the back rather than trusting the chest figure alone the way I did.

What convinced me was the construction rather than the finish. The lining is stitched right round to the hem instead of stopping short, the pocket zips are the same gauge as the front one rather than thinner, and the edging is rubbed into the leather rather than painted on top. Those are the three places these jackets usually cut corners.

Ten months of ownership and this is where it stands. The rub off has spread a little at the cuffs and the collar, which looks intentional rather than worn out. Every zip still runs cleanly, there is no cracking anywhere, and the lining is intact. It has been rained on a great many times and has never marked or gone stiff afterwards.

I am short in the body and most jackets hang past my hips and swamp me. This one has the hem band sitting right at my belt rather than below it, and the sleeves needed nothing taken up either. That combination almost never happens for me off the peg, so I have not had to pay a tailor a penny for once.

Five months of wearing it three or four days a week. The lighter edges have spread very slightly, which suits the finish, and nothing else has changed. No zip has caught, no thread has pulled, and the lining is completely intact.

Balanced take. It is a very good jacket and I wear it constantly, but two honest points. The rub off is heavier in person than the photos suggest, so expect real contrast at the edges, and the sleeves are cut slim so layering is limited. Neither has stopped me, and the leather itself is well past the price I paid.
